The most obvious example is food that is photographed for a cookery magazine or a cookbook. However as with most of the projects you have undertaken there is plenty of scope to interpret this topic anyway you wish, as long of course as it links back to food.

Tasks |
Your first task will be to research food photography and photographers. Don’t just rely on the internet but look in cookbooks and magazines. Find out who the photographers are and look them up. Most will have a portfolio of work and a certain style to their work.
Collect images from the photographers that you research. Comment on their work using the questions below as a guide. You should present this information using a combination of presentation boards and sketchbook. Aspects to consider
Once the research is complete you should have an idea of what you want to photograph so before you rush into anything make a plan. Use the following list to help you:
Before taking any photographs please make sure you are prepared. Poor planning and preparation will be evident in your final images and will result in a lower grade. I would suggest you that you are flexible in your approach to this topic. Experiment with different types of food photography. Aim for at least 500 images before you reach the production stage. |
