Photography - AS Level Task
Due in date: Tuesday 10TH January 2016
As part of your portfolio of work you are required to demonstrate critical and analytical understanding of contextual resources. From your research, you must show meaningful development of ideas through sustained investigations.
During the Christmas holidays, you are to complete the task below to a high standard as you will be presenting your work to your peers during lesson 2 on Tuesday 10th January.
Task 1
Produce relevant artist/photographer research.
1. Choose 2 photographers that inspire you – this research does not have to link to the theme of ‘Religion.’
2. Choose 2 photographers that clearly link the theme ‘Religion’ and inspire you.
Within your artist research you must include a detailed biography, analysis of at least 2 images and a collection of photographs, at least 10.
You should also research how the photographer produces their work i.e. techniques, shoots, camera lenses or settings and locations.
Image Analysis
The 5 C's
Content: What is in the image? DESCRIBE and EXPLAIN what you see in the image Composition: How has the image been arranged? Does the image have different elements in it? What methods and techniques does the photographer use in the image? Analyse HOW the lightening, angles, scale, perspective and techniques have been used. Does the photographer use a foreground, a middle ground and background to break up the image? What effect does this have? Context: Why was it taken? And where? What’s the meaning behind the image? When was it taken? What is the photographer’s influence? Context: What is the photographer’s reason for taking the photograph or editing it using a technique? Connection: How could this photographer’s work influence yours? And WHY is this important? Comment: What do you think the meaning behind the work is? What are the strengths and the weaknesses in the work? Why do you like and dislike the work? How could this image be improved?
Task 2
Explain in detail how your research will help you develop your project further.
Develop your project outline; the in-depth research that you have now undertaken will help you extend your project outline.
Project Outline
Start by explaining:
1. Your initial starting point- mind maps and research in to your theme.
2. Explain how your research led you to artist research and photoshoots.
3. Explain about how you have used your artist research to influence your photoshoots.
4. Explain how you have manipulated your own photographs using photoshop.
5. Tell me in detail how you aim to develop your project further.
Task 3
Present your work to your peers. You will be expected to participate in group and peer feedback during your lesson.
REMEMBER;
* You are required to produce at least 1000 words for this assignment.
* Presentation will be taken in to account when your work is assessed!
* SPAG and language used is very important... TAKE CARE!
